Job purpose

The purpose of the Internal Auditor is to add value and improve operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes, as well as recommend improvements geared towards promoting efficiency. The internal auditor possesses a thorough knowledge of accounting procedure and is of sound judgement.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Auditing the various business processes across the company
  • Determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans with input from management
  • Review, test and develop internal controls and suggest improvements
  • Obtain, analyse and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts etc
  • Prepare and present reports that reflect internal audit results, suggestions and document the process
  • Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures
  • Find efficiencies as well as ways in which cost savings can be achieved
  • Maintain open communication with management and the board of directors
  • Document processes and prepare audit findings memorandum
  • Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions
  • Liaise with warehouse management staff regarding stock counts, variances, stock movements, etc. This includes carrying out extensive stock control procedures in respect of physical computer equipment both at the data centre and head office.
  • Review and test overall debtors management system for strong controls and governance
  • Ensure reporting standards and maintained and adhered to across the company


  • Tertiary education in Commerce or Finance
